Downloading
Presentations, Saving Presentations and using Winzip
There are many ways to save a PowerPoint presentation from the web. Try some of the following.
Go here to try this netsquirrel.com/classroom/
Some files are so big (or contain multiple sound and movie files) that they have to be zipped. You can use the program winzip to open (called unzip) the file first and then view it in PowerPoint. Go to www.winzip.com for the winzip program.
Watch where you save templates and backgrounds. Unless the web site you download the file from has specific instructions – you will need to save the files to your computer and remember where they go.
OR
Go Here to try this www.websiteestates.com/education/templatesindex.html
Some Presentations can not be easily saved and must be viewed on the web. You may be able to chose Edit with Microsoft PowerPoint from the File Menu
Go HERE - www.norvig.com/Gettysburg/ or webster.commnet.edu/grammar/powerpoint.htm
Hyperlinks, Sound,
Movies and more
Hyperlinks
You can add a hyperlink to your presentation and then use it to jump to a variety of locations such as; a custom show, a specific slide within your presentation, a different presentation altogether, a Word document or Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, a company intranet, or an address on the Internet.
You can create a hyperlink from any text or object, and then you can either click the hyperlink or hold the mouse over it to start its action. You can also associate actions with the text or object. Such as moving the mouse over an object to play a sound or clicking the object to jump to another slide. When you set up a hyperlink, it's best to select the mouse-click method. If you select the mouse-over method, it's possible to jump when you really don't want to. The mouse-over method is good for feedback - for example, playing a "Click here for more information" message.
You insert hyperlinks by using the Action Settings dialog box (Slide Show menu) or you can click Insert Hyperlink on the Standard toolbar. PowerPoint also comes with a set of buttons (Action Buttons command on the Slide Show menu) that you can insert in your presentation as hyperlinks. These buttons appear pressed in when you click them, and they contain such common shapes as right and left arrows.
Inserting a Basic
Hyperlink
1. Save the presentation you want to insert the hyperlink into. If you insert a hyperlink before you save a presentation, you can't create a relative link.
2. Select the text or object you want to represent the hyperlink. For this activity go to the credits page and type in the sound web site you used earlier. And select the text you type.
3. On the Slide Show menu, click Action Settings.
4. To jump by clicking the selected object, click the Mouse Click tab.
5. To jump by moving the mouse over the object, click the Mouse Over tab.
6. To assign more than one action to the same object - for example, both a hyperlink and a sound -use the Mouse Click tab to set up the hyperlink and the Mouse Over tab to set up the sound.
7. Click Hyperlink To radio button, and then click the drop-down menu to select where you want to jump. We are jumping to a web site so choose URL. Type in the web address. You can just type www.wavplace.com (you do not need the http://).
8. Select any other options you want, and then click OK.
9. To preview how a hyperlink will appear in the slide show, click Slide Show at the lower left of the PowerPoint window.
Tips
w To add a hyperlink to a ready-made shape, such as a button or arrow, point to Action Buttons on the Slide Show menu, and then select the button you want. The Action Settings dialog box automatically appears so you can quickly set up the hyperlink.
w If you set up a hyperlink to a single slide, also add a hyperlink on that slide to return you to the original one.
w To make sure the destination of the hyperlink is available if you plan to move files, select the Use relative path for hyperlink check box.
Edit or change the
destination of a hyperlink
1. Select the text or object that represents the hyperlink.
2. On the Slide Show menu, click Action Settings, and then select the options you want.
3. You can also edit a hyperlink by using the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. Right-click the hyperlink, point to Hyperlink on the shortcut menu, and then click Edit Hyperlink.
Remove a hyperlink

3. To remove a hyperlink and the display text or object that represents it in the presentation - select the object or all of the text, and then press DELETE.
Creating
navigation buttons

2. From the Slide Show Menu choose Action Buttons. Click the home button (point to the house and wait a second, a tip will popup describing the button). This button will return us to the first slide when clicked.
3. Point to the bottom left corner, the mouse should look like a thin cross. Drag slowly toward the center of the slide. You should see the button forming. Make the button a nice small size and let go of the mouse button.
4. The Action Setting menu should appear. The Hyperlink choice of first slide should be selected. Click the OK button.
5. You can select the button and press the copy command. Then navigate to another slide and paste the button.
