General Resources Web Design/Graphics Email/Virus Information/Hoaxes actDEN - Really nest software tutorials for the classroom. actDEN currently offers seven software tutorials, produced in conjunction with Microsoft K-12 Education, and seven exciting DEN courses. Each tutorial and online course offers up-to-date information and interactive features that encourage students to learn, think, and participate in the online community.

EdTech Technology Professional Development - from the San Diego City Schools Classes - The Educational Technology Department is now publishing presentations on-line that may be useful to your school or department. Feel free to use them for your staff development presentations.
Educational Renaissance Planners was founded by Alan November to promote the effective use of information and communication technologies that support and enhance learning for children and communities. ER Planners includes a team of researchers, writers, and educational leaders who bring a variety of work and educational experiences, skills, and knowledge together.
Educational Software Cooperative ESC is a nonprofit organization whose purposes are to advance the mutual benefit of authors, publishers, dealers and distributors of educational software; to voluntarily cooperate formally and informally with each other to better develop, advertise, distribute and sell educational software; and to provide the public with information regarding the benefits, uses, and availability of educational software.
Educational Software Resources The Education Index was created in 1996 as a service of CollegeView, a software company based in Cincinnati to provide learners and educators with access to the best educational Web sites in a variety of subjects and life stages.
Evaluating Web Pages - This page is organized to combine the two techniques into a process that begins with looking at your search results from a search engine or other source, follows through by investigating the content of page, and extends beyond the page to what others may say about the page or its author(s). Faces of Tomorrow - Faces of Tomorrow is a web-based project which invites youth to submit self images in the form of photos, digital images, drawings, and combinations of media. This project was a part of the first statewide Boston CyberArts Festival that took place May 1-15, 1999. It culminated in a gala opening and exhibition at the Computer Museum in Boston for the Boston Cyberarts Festival from May 1-15, 1999. The project was organized by a committee of teachers, as well as professionals active in the world of nonprofit computer centers. Currently we are producing a resource guide for technology coordinators and instructors who wish to participate in a classroom setting which will include user-friendly instructions, lesson plans, and additional resources in each geographic area. Free Skills - This site provides hundreds of free tutorials covering a wide range of computer topics. They also have online courses you can take (for a fee).
Google Search buttons - Try a new searching experience. Google is one of the top search engines and has many additional features such as Google Buttons. Adding Google Browser Buttons to your personal toolbar gives you access to the same search technology available at www.google.com, without taking away from your existing screen space.

Netsmartz - The NetSmartz Workshop is an educational resource for children of all ages, parents and teachers on how to stay safer on the Internet. Since the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was first established in 1984, it has worked to make children safer. The NetSmartz Workshop was created to address the need for Internet safety education in an unprecedented way. Compaq Computer Corporation has donated $1.5 million to establish an onsite Internet studio at NCMEC. The NetSmartz Workshop features age-appropriate, interactive games and activities that utilize the latest web technologies to entertain while they educate.
Tapped In - TAPPED IN is the online workplace of an international community of education professionals. K-12 teachers and librarians, professional development staff, teacher education faculty and students, and researchers engage in professional development programs and informal collaborative activities with colleagues.
Teaching with Technology - Part of the University of Oregon's Teaching Effectiveness Program (TEP), which works with UO educators to assess and improve their teaching. This is a good gem with lots of information on how to incorporate technology elements (from web page design to online assessment) into the classroom. A four star site!

Subject-Specific Popularity ranks a site based on the number of same-subject pages that reference it, not just general popularity, to determine a site's level of authority.
webTeacher Has a good introduction to the World Wide Web in the form of a self-paced tutorial. It also contains information on Internet safety, cable modems and educational funding.

AntiViral Toolkit Pro's Computer Virus Encyclopedia - Extensive listings document the "behavior" of computer viruses. Site is searchable by virus name, but can also be browsed (viruses are arranged alphabetically). It is rigorously maintained (we checked it during the "Melissa" E-mail scare and found the site routinely on top of new developments).
Disappearing Email - Disappearing Email automatically manages email content by giving an email's author control over that message—no matter where it's forwarded or saved. The product was designed to meet identified email privacy needs. Disappearing™ Email, analogous to a paper shredder, expires messages according to user or corporate determined schedules.
