File Extensions

Open the View Menu and choose Options (Folder Options in some versions). Click on the file types tab. You can match a file extension to a program.

Using the Start Menu Find Command

The find command will let you search for file names, file types, date last modified or text within the file.

The matches are listed in a fashion similar to Windows Explorer. You can read the pathway from the match, or click directly on the file icon to open it. You can even right-click on the file icon and create a shortcut.
