Colors and Lines
1. Start a new blank slide. Choose one of the text and clip art slide layouts.
2. This slide is all about your favorite colors. Type a title in the top title box, type 3 colors you like in the text box and choose a clipart.
3. Now select the clipart. Open the Format Menu and Choose Colors and Lines.
4. The drop down Menu for the Fill option will color in the background of the selected object. Select a color.
5. The drop down Menu for the Line option will change the color of the line around the object (creates a box around the object). Select a color.
6. Click OK. Try changing the fill and line for the text box.
Slide Sorter View
1. Switch to Slide Sorter View. This view displays all of the slides. You can easily rearrange slides or copy slides in this view.
2. To move slide 3 between slide 1 and 2, point to middle of slide 3 and drag the mouse pointer toward the space between slide 1 and 2. When a gray line appears between slide 1 and 2, release the mouse button
3. Point to slide 2 and hold down Ctrl key. Drag the slide to the right of the last slide and release mouse button. A duplicate slide should have appeared.
4. Point to slide 2 and left click once. A black box should appear around slide.
5. Press the delete key. Undo your action using the Undo button on the Standard toolbar.
6. Many people like to have a black slide at the beginning and at the end of the show. Point to the left of slide 1 and left click once. A gray line should appear. Click on the new slide toolbar button. Insert a blank slide.
7. Click the Format menu and choose Background. Change the color to black and click the Apply button.
8. Point to the middle of the slide you just created and hold down the CTRL key. Keep the CTRL button held down and drag the slide to the end of your slide show. Make sure a gray line appears after the last slide. Let go of the mouse and then the CTRL button. A copy of the first slide should appear at the end of your show.
9. TIP - A quick way to select multiple slides. Point to the left of the first slide and left click (gray bar should appear). Still pointing to left of first slide, hold down mouse button and drag to the lower right side of the slides. All slides should be selected
Adding Images from the Internet
1. You can not edit in Slide Sorter View. You need to go back to slide view. The slide view button is located in the lower left corner and looks like a single white box.
2. Go to the last slide (hold down the CTRL key and press the End key). Insert a new Title Only slide.
3. This slide should be titles "Pictures I like".
4. Save the slide show and minimize PowerPoint.
5. Open Internet Explorer. Go to one of the following sites and find three pictures you like.

6. To save a picture from the Internet, right click on the picture. Choose Save As from the menu that opens. Navigate to the place to save the pictures (for this class save on the Desktop). Rename the picture if the filename does not make sense to you and click Save.
7. Maximize PowerPoint (point to button on taskbar and click).
8. From the Insert Menu choose Picture and then From File. Navigate to the area where the pictures are located (Desktop for this class) and double click on the picture you want to Insert.
9. Make sure you also add a credit on the slide naming the place where the picture came from.
Headers and Footers (date, time, slide numbers)
1 On the View menu, click Header and Footer.
2 To add the information to your slides, click the Slide tab.
3 Select the options you want.
4 To add the information to only the current slide, click Apply. To add it to all slides in the presentation, click Apply to All.
Tip - To add the slide number, date, or time anywhere on an individual slide, use the Date and Time or Slide Number command on the Insert menu.
Slide Transitions
1. Add slide transitions to the slide show from the slide sorter view. You can use the drop down menu (will say No Transition, it is labeled Slide Transition Effects) to apply a quick transition. To animate the transitions click on the slide transition button (all the way to the left of the toolbar).
2. Click on the Slide Transition button. Click on the Sound drop down menu. Choose a sound from the list.
3. Go to the next slide and insert another transition. View the slide show when finished.
4. There is a feature in the Slide Show menu called Rehearse Timing. It will allow you to time your presentation and then automatically add the time to the slides.
Slide Animations
1. You need to open the custom animation menu to animate individual items on a slide. The Custom Animation Button is accessible only from the slide view. Change to the Slide View. Make sure you are on the first slide.
2. The button is to the right on the toolbar and had a star, blue arrow and stopwatch.
3. Click on the first object you want to appear on the slide (the first object to be animated). Click on the animate button on the right, you can also click on automatically after so many seconds.
4. Click on the next object and click on animate. You must select all objects you wish to animate. They will appear in the order you select them.
5. Click on the Effects Tab.
6. From the Animation Order box, click on one of the objects (select them all if you want them all to have the same animation). Choose the type of animation effect.
7. The Chart Effects tab is only for charts created in Power Point. The Play Settings tab is used for multimedia.
8. When finished, click on the OK button. Select the next tab and continue the animation process.
9. View your show when finished.
