Resource: Jing

Purpose: Jing is free software for capturing screenshots and more. Use Jing to capture anything you see on your computer screen and share it as an image or a video.

Recommendations: UDL Principles best met

Ideas for instructional use: recording class presentation for reference later

• Multiple means of expression

Students can submit homework visually replacing text.

Benefits:

• Capture what is on your screen to share with others.
• Create a tutorial by recording a series of actions you perform.
• Have students record work and share to validate original work or find errors in procedure.
• Can suppliment text/technical manuals with visual references.
• An alternate way to provide instructions.
• Add video/images to a portfolio

Roadbumps to Watch:

• Need a quiet setting when recording.
• Requires ability to download software
• Sharing portion of Jing may be blocked by your school

Equipment/Technical Needs:

• Microphone if you wish to record a narriation
• You need to download software (has both Windows and MAC platform support)
